Avoid getting lost on a Rail trip – UK

  • Each person should keep their own train ticket if possible. kids tickets are normally held by the parent.
  • Whilst travelling ..make a mental note of the railway stations you pass. Trains show railway maps above the seats as well as digital displays of stations arriving at going to
  • look at your ticket to find your start station & end destination
  • lost at a station – ask a person wearing a railway uniform for help or go to enquiries or the ticket desk for help. They might also be able to announce where you are to your group somewhere, hopefully still at the station.
  • if you have smartphone use Google maps to show routes or a train app to show stations if you need to make your way back to your starting point or continue to your destination station. If confused, go back to enquiries / ticket office for assistance.
  • Making sure that you’re using the correct rail service. Each platform has a digital display showing the destination and how long you must wait for the train to arrive.
  • Underground rail services colour code the passage ways to the platforms, as well as inside coaches. For example, Circle Line is Yellow, Elizabet Line is Purple, etc.
