Is it possible to use the gravity of two space crafts to continuously slingshot each other into interstellar space?

It is possible to use the gravity of two spacecraft to perform a gravitational slingshot maneuver, also known as a gravity assist. This is a well-established technique that has been used by space missions such as the Voyager, Cassini, and New Horizons spacecraft.

During a gravitational slingshot manoeuver, a spacecraft uses the gravity of a planet or other celestial body to increase its velocity and change its direction of travel. The spacecraft passes close to the planet or moon and is accelerated by the planet’s gravity, allowing it to gain energy and speed. The planet’s gravity then pulls the spacecraft away, changing its trajectory.

In theory, it would be possible to use the gravity of two spacecraft to continuously slingshot each other into interstellar space. However, this would require a very precise and complex orbital dance between the two spacecraft.

Assuming it could be achieved, the spacecraft would experience a continuous acceleration as they slingshot each other. However, this acceleration would not be infinite and would eventually reach a maximum velocity determined by the spacecraft’s initial velocity, the strength of the gravitational fields, and other factors.

It’s worth noting that such a mission would be incredibly challenging to design and execute, and would require a significant amount of energy and resources.
