Our quest to find Wendy’s father’s birthplace in Hull, we discovered that 93% of Hull was bombed by Germans during World War I and II. The town is totally been rebuilt. The birth house is replaced with modern buildings. Fortunately, we found Wendy’s grandfather’s name and grandmother’s maiden name on local honours boards at Old Hull’s museum. It appears, the two families were in contact with each other during the war(s).
The church, below’ survived Germany’s bombing. We only realised when we returned home that there might be baptism and marriage records of Wendy’s descendants stored there. So, Hull needs a revisit!
King Edward purchased the land in 1300 century. So, this town has been around for a long time. Old Hull still exists (a worthwhile visit) and the new city was build around it.
